Mount Pisgah Hiking Trail
One of the most popular trails in the entire Blue Ridge Mountains is the Mount Pisgah Trail that is located just a few minutes’ drive south of Asheville. This hiking trail is one of the best in the entire area due to its unobstructed 360-degree views of the surrounding trees, mountains, and hills. You can head to the top in just 2.3 miles to see the trees changing color in the fall or gaze at the bright sunshine in the summertime. Head here and bring a few snacks to have at the top of the observation deck to make a full afternoon of your hike!
Crabtree Falls Hiking Trail
Another great hike for you and those who are beginner hikers is Crabtree Falls. This hike only takes around 2-3 hours to complete if you are taking your time, so you can saunter along, take in the views, and enjoy the solitude. Plus, at the end of the hike, you can marvel at the 60-foot waterfall and take a dip in the ice-cold water!
Linville Falls
Another waterfall favorite is Linville Falls, a great hike that is only 1.6 miles round trip, making it the perfect few-hour getaway for those who have small children. We love heading here and first going to Erwin’s View Trail, taking you up gently and providing you with an amazing viewpoint of the Upper Falls, Chimney View, and Erwin’s View Overlook at an astonishing 3,000+ feet high in the air.
Craggy Pinnacle and Gardens Hiking Trails
We also love challenging ourselves and going on the Craggy Pinnacle and Gardens Trail! These trails are short, but they bring you to high viewpoints that are amazing. Take the short hike of just 1.4 miles with your kids or older folks to introduce them to hiking, or have a relaxing afternoon walk. You can also go to the Craggy Pinnacle Trail for a little bit of a harder challenge, but one that rewards you with scenic overlooks, vistas, and wildlife along the way.
Graveyard Fields Hiking Trail
Don’t be scared by the name! This fun hiking trail offers a great loop that is perfect for those who want to go on trail running, show their kids the local wildlife, or dip their feet into the flowing rivers, waterfalls, or raging streams in the nearby area.
Boone Fork Trail
Last but not least, the Boone Fork Trail is a moderate trail that is 5.5 miles long and perfect for those who want to also explore Boone and Blowing Rock. We recommend combining this hiking trail with a full day out to one of the nearby towns to grab some lunch and have a cup of coffee in the morning! Complete this trail and then jump into the ice-cold water at the 25-foot waterfall at the end of the trail called Boone Fork Falls. What better way can you spend an afternoon!
