Traveling with Children to Yadkin Valley

It’s hard to imagine anything more meaningful than packing up the entire family and heading out of town to explore Yadkin Valley together. This beautiful gem of a destination in North Carolina is often a highlight for wine enthusiasts, but there’s just as much for visitors of all ages to enjoy here year-round as well. When you’re excited to be traveling in North Carolina with the kids to Yadkin Valley this year, the following are a few activities you’ll want to be sure to add to the list.

Explore Adventure Landing

When you’re a family that enjoys a little friendly competition, you’ll love every second spent at Adventure Landing during your Yadkin Valley getaway. Located at 1600 S Stratford Road in Winston-Salem, this family-friendly stop is a great place to enjoy everything from laser tag and mini golf to go-karts and bumper boats too. There’s also a full arcade on-site, giving young kids and teens alike reasons to linger and enjoy each other’s company. Adventure Landing is open Monday through Thursday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Fridays from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Saturdays from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and Sundays from noon until 8:00 pm.

Elkin-Based Festival and Event Fun for Everyone

Yadkin Valley Wine Country is a place that knows how to celebrate and no matter when you arrive, you’ll find plenty of family-friendly festivals and events on the calendar in Elkin that are suitable for a North Carolina family vacation. The Elkin Farmers Market is on every Saturday downtown and is a fun place to browse local produce, handmade gifts and more. Every third Saturday between April and October marks free live music in downtown Elkin at the Big Stage too. The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is a family-friendly gathering on the third Saturday here in May, while those traveling with kids this way in September won’t want to miss the annual Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival that includes fantastic food, holiday crafts, pumpkin weigh off competitions and beyond.

Visit Divine Llama Vineyards & Farm

While there are plenty of vineyards across Yadkin Valley Wine Country that are more suitable exclusively for those 21 and up, the Divine Llama Vineyard & Farm is a place made for the entire family to enjoy. Head over to 4126 Divine Llama Lane in East Bend to enjoy getting up close with some truly adorable creatures on this farm that doubles as a vineyard and offers guided llama treks for all ages too. There’s a $10 fee to visit the farm for those between the ages of 4 and 20, but you’ll also have the option to just visit with llamas if you want to leave the wine tasting out of the equation entirely for adults. The Llama Vineyard & Farm is open Thursday through Saturday from noon until 6:00 pm and on Sundays from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
