Whitewater Rafting

Are you a fan of fast speeds, fun with your friends, and days out on the water? We are too! But sometimes, if you are not in the mood for kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, or cruising down a lazy river, you might want something a bit more heart-pounding and adrenaline-inducing. In that case, we have the perfect day out for you!

Head to the Whitewater Center to check out the numerous activities on offer for you every single day of the week. You can jump from large platforms high in the sky, go hiking on one of the numerous trails, test your luck at stand-up paddleboarding, or quickly bike down the bumpy mountain paths.

After you have tried all these activities, it is time for the main event — whitewater rafting! Whitewater rafting in North Carolina is what makes the Whitewater Center so famous; featuring the world’s largest man-made whitewater river that has a wide variety of rapids that work for people of various fitness and skill levels.

Plus, you can feel safe the entire time. Cruise through the rapids and navigate the white water with a professional guide who is well-versed in leading groups and tackling strong currents and intense waves.

Rafting Options

We recommend choosing one of these rafting options for your first time at the center.

The Family Rafting rapids are the best way to start and have a fun-filled day on the water with younger kids, as this whitewater experience features just class 2-3 rapids on the Wilderness Channel. The Adventure Rafting course is slightly harder and features fast-paced class 3-4 rapids on the Competition Channel.

The Big Water Sessions feature 2x the fun! Tackle this course if you have experience with other rafting courses and want to try the Competition Channel. Lastly, if you are well-versed in the water, we love the Rodeo Rafting course that features a smaller raft for up to 4 people and one guide.

Information

We recommend making a reservation beforehand. Reservations can help you book a time slot and a course so you never show up on the day disappointed. Advance times are just $5 per person and can work in tandem with your selected pass. You can purchase a day pass, annual pass, or single-activity pass for $55.

Wear a bathing suit, shorts, and a T-shirt during the warmer days. If you have quick-dry clothing or water material, such as a rashguard, that is preferable. During the colder months, you may want to wear a waterproof rain jacket and splash jacket. The center will provide a helmet and lifejacket for your safety!
